The SCORE Project Output

The FP6 SCORE project officially completed its 2-year activity on 31st January 2009 and, according to the EC review report, it successfully managed to contribute to the strengthening of the strategic cooperation between the EU and the Western Balkan countries in the ICT field through the identification of common EU-Western Balkan R&D priorities for co-operation, barriers to co-operation and recommendations for addressing these.

SCORE (www.score-project.eu) has in fact identified and defined the next key ICT Research & Development priorities of the Western Balkan region in order to induce and maximize the possibilities of scientific and technological collaboration with EU countries, with particular emphasis on FP7.

The Policy Paper: “Shaping EU-Western Balkan co-operation in the field of ICT Research and Development in the period 2008 –2013: Priorities and Recommendations” and the Strategic Research Agenda “ICT R&D Priorities for BiH 2008 – 2013” (you can download both papers in pdf format, just click the links on the right sidebar) are the key outputs of the project that we are now glad to present to you.

Additionally, as reported by the EC reviewers, SCORE also succeeded to create a sustainable network of subject matter experts within the WB region, and to build contacts with high level policy makers in each of the covered countries. These contacts were established during a series of consultation and ICT workshops aimed at first defining the key ICT priorities and then transferring EU know-how in these fields. More information as well as all the presentations given at ICT workshops are available here

It was finally emphasized by EC reviewers that SCORE achievements shouldn’t remain “stored in the shelf” but rather be exploited and leveraged by following supporting actions in the region. This is why SCORE delivered its results and experience mainly to the FP7 WINS-ICT (www.wins-ict.eu), WBC-INCO.NET (www.wbc-inco.net) and ICT-WEB-PROMS (www.ict-web-proms.eu) projects that will continue and further develop the SCORE project achievements.

The SCORE portal will be kept on-line for the next three year, while its information content will be further improved and made available by WINS-ICT portal (www.wins-ict.eu).

On behalf of the SCORE project team,
